Twitch Port Forwarding

It still comes as a surprise to many but gaming has evolved past its reputation as a simple hobby. Some streamers earn in the millions for streaming their gaming sessions. They’re followed by avid fans and a loyal following. However, the entire experience can be tainted if you have a slow internet connection. This isn’t good for the one streaming, neither for the millions that tune in to see their favorite Twitch streamers playing Red Dead Redemption II with an interesting mod. However, you can avoid all that thanks to Twitch port forwarding.

How To Forward Ports

Here’s how you’ll set up port forwarding for Twitch:

  • Enter your router’s IP address in any web browser’s address bar.
  • Log in to the router.
  • Scroll down to the port forwarding section. It should be located under Advanced or NAT settings on most popular routers from Asus, Spectrum, or TP-Link.
  • Add a port forward entry.
  • Enter the IP Address of your device, such as your phone or PC, depending on which device you’re using Twitch.
  • Now enter “5050” for both starting and ending ports. Carefully tick UDP for each port.
  • Save this entry and reboot your router for the changes to take effect.
